The Envelope Please:

 Who Will Win, Who Deserves to Win, Who Was Snubbed

            Although Avatar and The Hurt Locker landed 9 Academy Award nominations each, I foresee the former and director James Cameron enjoying a clean sweep. Breaking all box-office records, Avatar is a juggernaut that nobody will be able to stop on Oscar night. This means that The Hurt Locker, which was directed by Cameron’s ex-wife, Kathryn Bigelow, might very well be shut out entirely, unless the Academy decides to split their votes between the two in the Best Director and Best Picture categories.

One of the most time-consuming tasks for new authors is handling their business during tax time. Keeping accurate inventory is a piece of cake when you are organized and if this process gives you a big headache read further to get organized today as well. 

 Many authors who are self-employed either file annual or quarterly sales tax forms. When the forms arrive it is easy to mistaken the envelope for regular Department of the Treasury Internal Revenue Service updates about tax info on mailers and changes in tax codes. You probably overlooked a letter this season stating that mailing returns to annual sales tax filers and/or some quarterly filers in specific zones will not be sent correspondence or reminders to file their taxes.  If you have multiple businesses, one  a thriving business and the other an upstart ready to launch this information applies to you.

Wesley Snipes

The “Brooklyn’s Finest” Interview with Kam Williams

            Born in Orlando on July 31, 1962 to Marian, a teacher’s aide, and Wesley, Sr., and an aircraft engineer, Wesley Trent Snipes was raised in the South Bronx, although the family moved back to Florida before he was able to graduate from NYC’s famed, Fiorello La Guardia High School of Music and Art. Still, Wesley went on to study drama in college at SUNY Purchase’s prestigious acting conservatory.

            However, he dropped out during his junior year to pursue his passion professionally. In Hollywood, the versatile thespian’s stage and Shotokan karate training came in handy in helping him land a variety of roles. The accomplished actor/black belt’s long list of credits on his enviable resume’ include the Blade Trilogy, Jungle Fever, White Men Can’t Jump, U.S. Marshals, Waiting to Exhale, Mo’ Better Blues, New Jack City, Murder at 1600, The Fan, Demolition Man, Passenger 57, To Wong Foo and The Art of War.

 Unoriginal Romantic Comedy Squanders Bounty of A-List Stars

            If you’ve seen Love Actually (2003), then you have a decent idea of what director Garry Marshall was aiming for with Valentine’s Day, a shameless rip-off with none of the charm of the delightful romantic comedy it so desperately seeks to emulate. The original, set in London during the Christmas season, engagingly explored an array of both lighthearted and sobering relationship issues through the prism of 10 couples in conflict. The essence of Love Actually’s appeal lay in the deceptive fashion in which its endearing characters were introduced, developed and serendipitously intertwined en route to a satisfying payoff.

I am furious with all of these sell out authors either telling women what is wrong with them or why they can’t get a man, and especially these fake doctors with PHD given a voice with only $3000 more on their salaries, 1 discertation away from anyone who has graduated from college  and a long ass hair weave with no game who got a man because.. She mentioned she had a new single called, Good to Me. As a lady who asks every celeb, what’s your favorite music as seen in hundreds of interviews syndicated in all major media outlets with Kam Williams and in my GET PERSOULNAL Interviews on www.disilgold.com which you can now see featured at the top of the site from here on out because I have completed my publishing projects , I had to find out what Letoya Luckett was up to since she landed a lead role as Angie in the movie Preacher’s Kid. I am always routing for black women in film because it is a rarity. I was there to support Taraji P. Henson with a release of her first major interview top media pucked up on and as expected, she took off.

First, I want to say it was an honor introducing Wesley Snipes to the stage at the African American Pavilion at Book Expo. A very humble brother,  I asked Wesley Snipes in front of an audience of thousands of his fans since day one what inspired him to come out to the literary world and promote a video project he was working on and not long before Hollywood called him to star in Brooklyn’s Finest with one of my favorite actors, Don Cheadle.  He graciously said, “YOU!” Wesley Snipes like many author celebrities  and to be enjoy our promotions over at www.disilgold.com and www.AmberBooks.com, parent home of my first book deal, Literary Divas.  Books bring a love for literature as well as wealth for many. I did not doubt that Wesley was contemplating writing his story.  We’ll see if that happens soon.

Not a good look today as Jay Z  sponsored a give away of his Roca Wear fragrance  on BET 106@ Park, the most snowed in day of the year. I rarely watch the show, but caught this one today that had me in stitches when host Terrence asked  a guest from the audience how  Jay Z’s fragrance smelled on him. You won’t believe what the guest did.

Michelle Williams, actress of hit Broadway play Chicago lights up Empire State Building for National Go Red for Women Day. Not many singers or actors will ever get that opportunity to light up the world’s most prominent building in their lifetime. Of course, everyone in the building came out to see her sold out Broadway play. Here is Michelle Williams being hoisted into the air by 3 actors with Chicago shirts on, so with all respect, Michelle gets marketing  honors this week.  Hoping to catch the play soon. BET ’s Centric TV  launched the Saving Ourselves Haiti Relief  Celebrity Telethon  produced by Sean Diddy Combs with hosts Pharell and Queen Latifah in support of fundamental and ongoing donations for Haitians in need of clean water. Just one purification packet can clean 10 liters of dirty water soiled with worms, parasites and blood born diseases. Even with a ravaged and ruined country, Haitians rather go hungry then drink the contaminated water. Already over 200,000 Haitians have lost their lives in the worse devastation to hit a coastal island. With efforts of concerts as S.O.S. there is hope for rebuilding the  restoration of Haiti ongoing.

What I found amazing were the number of musicians and artists who came out to man the phone lines, perform and encourage viewers to reach out and send just $10 or more.  Just some guests of the show were Akon,LL COol J, Fontsworth Bentley, Keri Hilson, Mary J.   2010 Oscar Nominations

The Hurt Locker and Avatar Land 9 Nominations Each:

 Ex-Spouses Cameron and Bigelow Brace for Big Showdown

            Everyone expected James Cameron’s Avatar to land a bunch of Academy Award nominations. After all, the billion-dollar movie is on the brink of breaking the box office record as the best money-maker in screen history. But that 3D, sci-fi spectacular’s 9 nominations has been matched by The Hurt Locker, a super-realistic, Iraq War saga which barely made back its $11 million budget.

            What’s equally interesting is the fact that The Hurt Locker’s director, Kathryn Bigelow, is Cameron’s ex-wife, so the former spouses’ films will be pitted up against each other in not only the Best Picture, Cinematography, Film Editing, Sound Editing, Sound Mixing and Original Score categories, but head-to-head for Best Director as well.

            Among the other multiple nominees are Quentin Tarantino’s Inglourious Basterds (8), Lee Daniels’ Precious (6), Jason Reitman’s Up in the Air (6) and the endearing Disney cartoon Up (6). A welcomed surprise was newcomer Gabby Sidibe’s being recognized for her compelling portrayal of the title character in Precious, especially since in earning the spot she had to beat out some stiff competition like Tilda Swinton (Julia), Gwyneth Paltrow (Two Lovers), Zooey Deschanel (500 Days of Summer) and Charlotte Gainsbourg (Antichrist).

            The 82nd Academy Awards will air on ABC on Sunday, March 7^th at 8 PM ET/5 PM PT, and will be co-hasted by Alec Baldwin and Steve Martin.
