Disilgold: What is your latest book about?
Diane:While
Southern Africa struggles with a deadly plague, one lone detective and a cast of unlikely heroes discover the virus was engineered, specifically for killing. It’s a race against time as Detective Zack Monstar risks it all to take on the government, the world and THE DEVIL IN THE MIST.
Disilgold: How long did it take you to complete your book?
Diane: I wrote over a 8-10 year period, off and on, until I took it serious.
Disilgold: What were the happiest moments you have experienced while writing your latest book?
Diane:Utopia when I could go back and read an excerpt and enjoy it like it was my first time, or like I hadn’t written it and writing the love story.
Disilgold: Describe your writing style?
Diane: My writing style is clear, concise and heavy on characterization.
Disilgold: How did you develop your writing style?
Diane:I think mainly from reading authors who I enjoy. Who aren’t heavy on description and keeps the story flowing.
Disilgold: Do you have a favorite author of all time or someone who inspired you to achieve your goals as a writer?
Diane: Stephen King has always been a favorite, but it was Walter Mosley that inspired me to write.
Disilgold: Where do you see yourself as a writer ten years from now?
Diane:I see myself with a multitude of books written in various genres, and more than a couple of screenplays written and produced.
Disilgold: What marketing tips can you provide to new authors?
Diane:Have a plan! Utilize your independent publishers, bookstores and organizations. Most important network with other authors!
Disilgold: What other projects are you working on? Diane: I am a publisher as well, and formed my publishing company, Firefly Publishing in 2005. Since then I have published one author, Darline Dorce’-Coupet’s book, “Between the Devil & TheDeep

Sea”, May 2006, and I am looking to have another published by March 2007/
Disilgold: What are your top ten favorite books right now?
Diane: Standing at the Scratch Line, Gone Fishin, Sugar, Pipe Dreams, Coldest Winter Ever, The Dying Ground, Thieves
Paradise, Mama, It, The Stand.
Disilgold:When do you write and for how long?
Diane: I write daily, sometimes, and sometimes, a couple of times a week, for 2-3 hours.
Disilgold: Do you have a favorite location for writing? Diane:My bed.
Disilgold: What method did you use to write or organize your book?
Diane:No method, just freeflowing…finishing up where the story last ended.
Disilgold:What three words best describe your writing style?
Diane:Real, fast-paced, entertaining.
Disilgold: What other hobbies do you pursue when you aren’t writing ?
Diane:I run a non-profit organization that focuses on physical fitness. I also like to dance, work out, read, and socialize with friends and family.
Disilgold: Are there any hidden jewels or talents that you possess that many of your readers may not know?
Diane:I can dance very well! And sing.

Disilgold: What have been some of your toughest obstacles as a writer?
Diane: Securing an agent and breaking into the business with a major publisher. But it has also been a learning experience doing it first on my own, through self-publishing, now I can appreciate both sides of the industry and understand how much work, and money goes into the production of a book. So, the hard road has been a blessing in disquise.

Diane: 6:30am
Disilgold: What is your writing fuel in the morning?
Diane:Coffee.
Disilgold: What early morning rituals have followed for many years? Diane: Coffee!
Disilgold: What are your favorite foods to snack on while writing?
Diane:Don’t snack!
Disilgold: Do you watch television or listen to the radio when you’re writing, and if so, what do you watch or listen too mostly?
Diane:I have it on, but don’t pay attention.

Diane: Essence
Disilgold: Do you have an exercise regimen to suggest for busy writers?
Diane:No, I barely stick to my own.

Diane:Ummm, I still work, so work attire.

Diane:I still don’t have an agent!
Disilgold: If you could inspire a child, what would you say?
Diane:Dream bigger!

Diane:Rest if you must, but don’t you quit!
