Brandy, born Brandy Rayana Norwood on February 11, 1979,was born in McComb, Mississippi. Her big break came when Chris Sotkes discovered her while singing in a youth choir group.

By age 15, she landed her own self-entitled album in 1994 giving rise to the sultry sounds of a new young diva on the music scene with “signature braids” and a style all her own.

By 1998, she acquired a Grammy for her duet with another young singing sensation, Monica, for “The Boy is Mine,” a cult classic that gave rise to an RnB artist with staying power. By the early 2000′s, she had successfully sold over 25 million albums followed with hundreds of awards and honors. Her popularity lead to starring roles on sitcoms like  Moesha (1996-2001) on the UPN Network and now called MY9.

She wowed America with her classic  rendition of Cinderella which receied rave reviews. Her sitcome became one of the highest ranking shows on air and soon film roles came knocking like the 1998 horror sequel I Still Know What You Did Last Summer.
Now she’s back in 2008 with new album and a new song, but people are wondering if she can rise to the status of her past albums. We’ll have to find out.
