Tavis Smiley Debut Documentary on TVONE this Sunday at 9pm- Check your local listings!

I was turning my dial on my radio of my car on my commute back home from the office because I don’t preset my car radio dials on purpose. This forces me to tune into other radio stations and be a more ecclectic listener. And– since radio wants advertising dollars, they had better have worthwhile content to attract my attention as soon as I turn the dial or those Nielson scans get chopped and screwed.
Lo and behold, The Michael Baisden Show caught my attention today or was the winner of my attention which is very hard to get. I am the most fickle music, book, tv and radio listener. You have got to be stellar for me to even remember your radio station because I can listen to over 100 stations a week. It’s that critical as I gear ready to release the nominees for Radio DJ of the Year. I have to know exactly who folks are referring for integral purposes.
A voice on his show caught my attention. It’s a voice I gravitate to when I hear it on the air or tv, and happens to be Tavis Smiley. I felt that brotherly vibe between Michael and Tavis so I listened some more and found out both had supported each other when they were just starting their careers. It is truly a rarity when folks acknowledge those they started out with. Either one is a success and the other is not, but gives off that perception with materialistic things, but you can tell there is tension because they just can’t seem to give kudos to their other successful friends, but I was very impressed with the comradery. In fact, I admire this when I tune into radio shows and not those feud matches that bring stress in my life. Hate breeds hate and I figure if I don’t tune into shows with negativity, it can’t rub off on me. Success Vibing as I call it is the new it formula of radio.
Shawn and Damien Weigh-In on Latest Wayans Family Production: Candid Interview with Stars of New Movie The Dance Flick

Shawn and Damien Wayans
The Dance Flick Interview with Kam Williams
In 2000, the Wayans Brothers made a big splash with Scary Movie, a hilarious spoof of horror flicks. Since that phenomenal franchise has raked in about a billion dollars at the box office, it’s no surprise that it also spawned a cottage industry of imitators, including such similar parodies as Not Another Teen Movie, Date Movie, Epic Movie, Superhero Movie, Meet the Spartans and Disaster Movie.
Now the Wayans have returned to the genre with Dance Flick, a spoof of dance films featuring plenty of their relatives both in front of and behind the camera. Directed by Damien Wayans, the picture is based on a script he co-wrote with his Uncles Shawn, Keenan Ivory, Marlon and Cousin Craig. Plus, the movie stars ten Wayans: Damon, Jr., Kim, Shawn, Marlon, Craig, Keenan, Chaunte, Michael, Cara Mia and Gregory.
Recently, Shawn and Damien shared their thoughts with me not only about making the movie but about being members of a family which has become as associated with acting as families with pedigreed thespian lineages like the Barrymores, the Phoenixes, the Fondas, the Bridges, the Baldwins, the Arquettes and the Redgraves.

Can Ciara Make It To Number One?

Ciara debuted as a top grossing artist selling over 1.2 million copies of her last album since then and prompting a return of a new installment entitled Fantasy Ride. With tens of thousands of artists and people with so many preferences, it is a phenom that Ciara has survived her Sophomore album. Not many ladies in the music business are serious about their career. It’s anything but a Fantasy Ride, but Ciara is determined and back, bolder and wiser.
Already, her single, “Sex, Love and Magic” with Justin Timberlake is a top download worldwide with universal appeal and her “Never Ever” Ballad while melancholy, gives a reality check to the ladies still holding on to failed relationships. The words of this single track simple state,” If he don’t love you by now, he’ll never ever, ever, ever love you.” If it sounds like an old Chi Lites tune entitled, “Have You Seen Her,” than you either know your music or grew up listening to your grandpa’s music. Without a doubt, Ciara’s version geared toward the ladies is catchy and she has strong balladeer appeal. Prior to the Never Ever track, she had already solidified her voice in the industry with “Promise.”
Her audience may have been all hyped to buy her album when she released Go Girl, but the album is just now arriving at a time when over 6 new movies have already earned people’s hard earned cash like Star Trek, Obsessed and The Soloist. No longer can music companies plan to release albums around other artist’s albums, but they must consider movie releases.

Controversial Excerpt of LaToya S. Watkins New Book- In Love With Losers
I got a glimpse of author LaToya S. Watkins new book, “In Love With Losers” in my inbox this morning and I am just as shocked as you will ever be, The title is, “In Love With Losers,” and of course, the next Disilgold Soul Magazine Bestseller on the rise. Her site is www.latoyaswatkins.com.
Since Will didn’t see Zora when he came in, she almost had to chase him to where he was being seated. She stopped mid-stride when she saw the woman and little boy waiting for him at the table. She watched as he kissed the woman on the cheek and rubbed the top of the little boy’s head. She felt a burning sensation in her eyes but knew that there was some sort of explanation for this. She wished that the woman was a cousin or sister visiting and that would make the situation OK. That would explain why he’d stood her up at church, but she knew better. She knew the woman had to be his lover. It pissed her off to no end too. He had stood her up. She had to let him know that she saw him, and she had to let the woman know that she’d been with him.
She walked over to where he had sat down, and he looked up at her with startled eyes that screamed, “Please don’t!”
“Hello Will,” she began, “I saw you come in, and since you are such a hard person to get a hold of, I decided to come over and let you know that I waited all morning for you sweetie.” She gently placed her hand on his cheek, and he swatted it away.
The woman sat there dumbfounded while Zora took in her appearance. She was a big girl, and if she was a love interest of Will’s, then he had bad taste. She held a dark complexion, blue-black almost, but that wasn’t what made her ugly. In fact Zora had always pondered having skin as smooth and dark as the beautiful Sudanese model Alek Wek. This woman’s skin, however, was full of craters and bumps that appeared to have tiny people living inside of them. She looked as if she had lotioned her face and hands with cooking oil, and her teeth were so big that they hung out of her mouth while it was closed. Wearing a slightly askew, too large blond wig, her appearance screamed loud enough to get far more attention than this boogawolf needed. Zora decided that the woman looked like a gorilla in a wig.
Zora looked at the woman and stuck out her hand while saying, “I’m sorry. Will is so rude.. I’m Zora, Will’s friend.” She looked over at Will, who looked as if he was about to crap his pants. “His close friend,” she added. The wigged gorilla left Zora’s hand hanging and looked over at Will.
“Will, don’t you lie, niggah. Ima ask you one time and you needs to come correct.”
Nicole Beharie Interview- Behold the Beauty of Beharie with Kam Williams

Nicole Beharie: The “American Violet” Interview
with Kam Williams
A recent grad of the acting program at the prestigious Juilliard School, Nicole Beharie made her screen debut just last fall in The Express, a bittersweet bio-pic about the abbreviated life of Ernie Davis, the first African-American recipient of the Heisman Trophy. Now, in just her second film, the promising young thespian has already handled her first leading role.
In American Violet, a riveting drama based on a real-life case of racial profiling and malicious prosecution in a tiny Texas town, she plays a single-mother of four falsely accused of dealing drugs. Here, the emerging ingenue reflects upon her work in the movie which co-stars Alfre Woodard and Charles S. Dutton.
KW: Thanks so much for the time.- Kam Williams NB: I’m grateful that you wanted to speak with me.- Nicole Beharie
KW: The honor is all mine, after I witnessed what a superb job of acting you did in this film. What interested you in the role?
NB: This particular script moved me. I had a dream about it, and when I went in for the call back, I met with the director Tim Disney, and the writer Bill Haney. When they told me about their investment in the project and Regina Kelly’s actual story, and how she had cooperated with the ACLU, I was just moved by them as human beings. I knew right then and there that I wanted to collaborate with them in some way. I told them at the second audition that if they didn’t want to cast me as the lead, I was willing to play another part because I cared that much about the story. But the audition went well, and things worked out in my favor. Read the rest of this entry »

Zoe Saldana “Star Trek” Interview: “I always strive to keep a balance with my fears. I don’t like to be ruled by them.”

Zoe Saldana:The Star Trek Interview with Kam Williams
”I always strive to keep a balance with my fears. I don’t like to be ruled by them.”- ZOE SALADANA
Given Zoë Saldaña’s meteoric rise, it only makes sense that the flick that finally rockets her to the heights of superstardom would be an intergalactic adventure like Star Trek. Previously, you might have seen this striking ballet dancer-turned-actress as the late Bernie Mac’s daughter who was dating Ashton Kutcher in Guess Who, playing second-banana to Britney Spears in Crossroads, as the love interest of Nick Cannon in Drumline, opposite Johnny Depp in Pirates of the Caribbean, with Forest Whitaker and Dennis Quaid in Vantage Point, or directed by Steven Spielberg in The Terminal alongside Ton Hanks and Catherine Zeta-Jones.
Last year, the photogenic fashion plate made People Magazine’s 100 Most Beautiful People in the World list (see http://www.people.com/people/package/gallery/0,,20193583_20196426_15,00.html) and she was also name #42 on Maxim Magazine’s Hot 100 list for 2008.
