I was turning my dial on my radio of my car on my commute back home from the office because I don’t preset my car radio dials on purpose. This forces me to tune into other radio stations and be a more ecclectic listener. And– since radio wants advertising dollars, they had better have worthwhile content to attract my attention as soon as I turn the dial or those Nielson scans get chopped and screwed.

Lo and behold, The Michael Baisden Show caught my attention today or was the winner of my attention which is very hard to get. I am the most fickle music, book, tv and radio listener. You have got to be stellar for me to even remember your radio station because I can listen to over 100 stations a week.  It’s that critical as I gear ready to release the nominees  for Radio DJ of the Year. I have to know exactly who folks are referring for integral purposes.

A voice on his show caught my attention. It’s a voice I gravitate to when I hear it on the air or tv, and happens to be Tavis Smiley. I felt that brotherly vibe between Michael and Tavis so I listened some more and found out both had supported each other when they were just starting their careers. It is truly a rarity when folks acknowledge those they started out with. Either one is a success and the other is not, but gives off that perception with materialistic things, but you can tell there is tension because they just can’t seem to give kudos to their other successful friends, but I was very impressed with the comradery. In fact, I admire this when I tune into radio shows and not those feud matches that bring stress in my life.  Hate breeds hate and I figure if I don’t tune into shows with negativity, it can’t rub off on me.  Success Vibing as I call it is the new it formula of radio.

Sometimes I wish the sisters would do more of that. I felt so warm-hearted and naturally I found out all about Tavis Smiley’s debut documentary which airs this Sunday. It kind of reminds me of a guys  night out where the fellows get to talk, cry, laugh and even breakdown on issues from poverty, the State of Black America, recent travesties, losses, and the presidential win of Barack Obama. I love it when men are in tune ot their sensitive side. We ladies like that.

Apparently, Tavis was a sneaky little devil and secretly filmed his friends while they hung out, got their conversations on tape and is now blasting their intimate thoughts on air. Now that isn’t brotherly, but what are his friends going to do?

There is even some chit chatter about the Beyonce vs. Aretha Franklin controversy where Beyonce’ mistakenly or maybe intentionally called Tina Turner the Queen of Soul on an awards show. Remember that?  See the photos from the show on www.Disilgold.com in the FASHION REVIEW Section. It will be interesting, nevertheless, to see what these men have to say on issues. Oh, who are these men about to get blasted this week on air? I heard Cornell West and Eric Mychal Dyson to name a few are in the documentary, so I’d like to hear what these men have to say on issues and will be tuning in to THE STAND, again on TV ONE! If you miss it, you miss it, but don’t say I didn’t tell you.
