DISILGOLD SOUL BOOK REVIEW: I Can Make You Love Me By Karen White-Owens

“A BOLD, SEXY AND SCANDALOUS THRILLRIDE HIT OF THE YEAR!”- Heather Covington

Like an insouciant flashback seen through a myopic lens , an enchanting scene between 5 year old Adam Carlyle and his 13 year old babysitter , Wynne Evans, quickly dissipates with heartwarming smiles as she finishes reading his favorite fairytale. You would think Adam is impressed with Wynn’s storytelling technique and ready to be tucked in, but he sits right up, looks into Wynn Evan’s eyes and surprisingly pops the question like a grown man, “Will you marry me?”

Wynn, a pre-teen, shrugs off Adam’s advances as an innocent gesture, but Adam cries that if she goes he’ll be alone since his sister is leaving off to her third year of college. An enchanting and light-hearted beginning, it is obvious that Adam doesn’t just have a crush, but knows who he wants and to spend the rest of his life with.

Wynn can’t help but wish that her own boyfriend would pop the same question with as much passion as the young Adam and laughs off the entire incident. With two children later, born to her ex, Jim Harrison, Wynn manages to land a successful job as a successful and lucrative CNA upon completion of her degree from Michigan State University.

The same man she had hoped to marry left her for another woman, but even with separation he seems to want to control Wynn and often takes her boys for a few days and brings the boys back earlier than expected just to upset her. He’s rude, brash, pompous and on top of that he is verbally abusive and doesn’t want her to have a life. He owns several buildings and not only has visitation rights, but is paying the successful Wynn hefty child support payments for his prowess ways.

A delightful turn occurs one day as Wynn winds up at a hot dog stand in front of New Center One Building. She receives a call and replies with a deep and sultry business voice, “ Wynn Evans.” A man who is standing behind Wynn and checking out her body from head to toe and over hears her begins sighing and motioning a confrontation until she turns around. It isn’t apparent that she is starring at Adam Carlyle all grown up, built cock diesel and ruggedly handsome with the same boyish face. He does her the favor and asks if she grew up around the Rosedale arena.

With a barrage of light to intensive romantic chit-chatter fueled with testosterone from Adam and estrogen from Wynn, it is apparent that there is mutual attraction, but Wynn who is reluctant to give him her number gives in. After all, this man standing in front of her is 7 years younger and the same child she babysat as a kid, plus she has two boys who are attached to their own father and bringing Adam into her life despite their romantic rendezvous might not work . It’s all too surreal, but Adam is persistent.

For days he sends flowers, calls and insists on them having dinner, and even if he has a mad woman named Vivian Manning after him. Then the day arrives when Jim brings the boys back and notices that someone has sent her flowers. He becomes curious and so outraged he suddenly wants Wynn back in his life. Like a twist of fate, Wynn is caught up. Jim was once a man she loved, but she decides to rejects Jims advances.

Like a scorned man, he says “That man will never love you and you’re sagging breasts” and goes on and on with more pop shots and insults that are not true of the 35 year old slender Wynn. Her mind is made up, but even Adam is unsure if he fits into Wynn’s life 100%. Things grow stranger by the moment when her boys whom she loves more than anything disappear. Could it be Adam or Jim?

Time is running out and Wynn is in a search of her sons. Adam by profession is qualified to find them and so she entrusts the man who she believes truly loves her to help find her sons. You’ll never guess who took her sons and why?

If you were caught between two lovers, one a forbidden romance by luck and chance and the other by initial desire separated in love and war and both returned to you with promise of everlasting commitment, which man would you choose even if the wrong decision could jeopardize the lives of your children?

“I Can Make You Love Me” by Karen White-Owens makes readers wonder if they should open or close the door to people who return from one’s past. In this case, the life of Wynn’s children depends on it making for a true drama readymade for the big-screen. The climatic stand-off between two lovers, one real and the other a façade scores big for the author of other high intense novels like “The Way You Aren’t” and “Now Until Forever.” Ms. Owens is not just an author, she’s a story teller with a gift of penning novelistic stories with great timing, plot, dialogue, suspense and intensified intrigue. Karen-White Owens is a classic and contemporary Romance and Drama Novelist of our era.

  5. Needed to put you this bit of note so as to give thanks yet again about the beautiful suggestions you have shown on this page. It is certainly remarkably generous of people like you giving easily all a few individuals could have distributed as an e-book to get some profit on their own, primarily now that you could possibly have done it if you considered necessary. Those ideas as well acted to become great way to realize that many people have the same desire just as mine to figure out more and more on the subject of this problem. I am certain there are thousands of more enjoyable times up front for those who look into your website.

  6. The next time I read a blog, I hope that it doesnt disappoint me as much as this one. I mean, I know it was my choice to ead, but I actually thought youd have something interesting to say. All I hear is a bunch of whining about something that you could fix if you werent too busy looking for attention.
