Will Smith is the cover man on Vigor Magazine’s Spring Edition 2010 - www.JewishHome.org in an exclusive 3 page article called WILL POWER by Stephanie R. Conner. He’s revealing how he packed on lean muscle recently and shed body fat from 12 percent to 7.5 percentto get ready for film roles like I, Robot. The question everyone has asked is if whether or not Will Smith has to work hard to get into shape? The answer will shock you and what he has to do to stay in shape. If you are trying to get in shape by Summer, you’ll want to listen to Will Smith’s expert advice as the “Million Dollar” grossing actor who brings out the masses to movies he stars in.
Stephanie mentions, “Smith and other celebrities spend hours a day in the gym to achieve peak fitness levels.” Will Smith’s regimen consists of daily runs for 5 miles and rounds of boxing. He goes into the gym with the mentality of a “World Class athlete” and admits he could only bench press barely 300 pounds until he began training. In less than 3 months he was bench pressing 385 pounds. He shares how he was fit in the movie, Muhammad Ali, but out of shape. He encourages the fellows to stop thinking because you are thin you do not have to work out. It’s all about body fat and shedding it with consistent workouts that become part of your lifestyle.
The article goes on to explain how a lack of exercise may bring on early Heart disease, stroke, diabetes, and cancers in what seems like perfectly healthy individuals. As a father, producer, actor and music artist, it is great to see that Will Smith took a break to challenge himself to get healthier and fit. The article proves that everyday people can get as fit as celebrities if they train regularly. There is a myth that one has to walk at least 10,000 steps a day to stay fit, but this figure is grossly stated and quantitity has nothing to do with physical fitness. You can exercise vigorously for 30 minutes daily and begin to see results as suggested by Edward M. Phillips, co author of ACSM’s Exercise Is Medicine. “A daily 30 minute walk is a start.”
Featured is a photo of Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith, Hollywood’s Power Couple who just celebrated a NAACP AWARD for Jada’s lead role in Hawthorne, which gives an inside look at the lives of nurses in the ER room. Will Smith is slated for a film role in Flowers for Algernon due for 2013 release, but not listed yet.
Disilgold SOUL Magazine Article Review: “The article doesn’t promote any upcoming projects by Will Smith, but stays focused on the topic, WILL POWER, which I thought was a clever title for an article and draws readers to find out what Will Smith has been up to. It’s always inspirational to hear celebrity secrets revealed from beauty and fashion to fitness and lifestyle. Stephanie R. Conner does an excellent job bringing out key exercises that are critical for celebrity male fitness to everyday fitness gurus. “
