Iman sports a classic side swept bang bob which  stops at the neckline. As a result, Iman’s eyes and beautiful cheekbone structure are enhanced and earrings stand out. The only problem with this style is that the style looks too safe and constricting. Iman can play up some tendrils and just a little more length. Being over 50 does not mean one has to look like the President’s  wife and no offense to Michelle Obama, but Iman was an international Supermodel and I don’t care for this look on her. Get sassy and rock it out Iman.

Solange rocks a classic wig fro with built in texture, height and volume. Her own hair is a little bit thicker as we have seen before in pics. Solange isn’t fooling anyone here.  This style works for the doe eyed beauty, but a little outdated. Solange gets props for individuality and claims she is not her hair, but then why does she change her hair so much?  Add a great smile which Solange owns and the style works for now, but it will certainly grow out more and then what? She’ll probably go back to a straight and relaxed style. his is Solange’s umpteenth style change. Even Beyonce’ does not change her hair that much.

Keri Hilson is back with a different style and counting. This one is reminiscent of TLC and Mary J Blige’s old look so while it frames her face nicely it doesn’t come off as a signature look that Keri will lock in for the long run. If so, a different color might fair better.  Keri can virtually wear any look, but the Marilyn blonde ambition look may be a little too powering . She may want to mix it with some brown highlights to soften the look.

Rihanna takes her classic red hair and creates an up do that is classic and not only looks elegant, but  evolves with the singer’s success.  While great for an evening among stars, this look won’t work well as a performer at all and normalizes Rihanna. Dom’t be so quick to look politically correct. Now Rihanna looks like everyone else. She use to have a bad girl image and you can tell she’s fighting it everyday. Not sure if Rihanna should do that right now.

Last but not least, Nicki Minaj rocks her own hair and cleverly gels down the front and then  scrunches the top to show off her natural texture. Now this is an original hairstyle.  She just blows Iman, Solange, Keri and Rihanna away. She definitely did it on them as the kids are singing her song all over the country.

I’m sure Iman, Solange, Keri and Rihanna are breathing fire right now after losing the Battle of the Hair Divas right here on the Literary Dish, but knowing these ladies they’ll all be back to make us fall in love with their hairstyles. Consider this round one and just a dose of humor.

Beyonce’ made the most incredible move of her career to back out of what appears to be a shady game company that tried to capitalize off her name as a sub title which could have easily been REPLACED with any other celebrity’s name. This style of capitalizing on a star’s name undercuts the value of an artist when a new artist comes along to toggle sales and thus an artist only gets an initial investment advance, but quite possibly nothing more.

These type of partnerships lead to an artist having to agree to guest appearances to help move the product and of which they feel obligated in fear they won’t sell enough units to gain a surplus over initial investment from a buyer. This is no different than an author earning back their advance or one can be sued to return the money. Most authors do earn back their advance because forces in their corner see to it that they do.

Thus far, no word on whether or not Spike Lee will agree to a Spike Lee vs Tyler Perry Interview on the Mo’nique Show. Last night Tyler Perry appeared for a live appearance on the Mo’nique Show. Mo’nique is BET’s late night talk show queen who aced an Oscar for her role in Precious as a dysfunctional parent. Not only did the movie, directed by Lee Daniels, but co-produced by Tyler Perry and Oprah Winfrey gain critical reviews for the movie exposing this dark underbelly of some African American culture in slums, but before Tyler’s recent, “Madea’s Big Happy Family” reunion appeared Spike Lee SHOUTED DOWN Tyler. Tyler heard that Spike Lee said his films have bafoon Blacks. Tyler than SHOUTED DOWN Spike Lee by saying, ” Go to Hell!” and clearly cognizant of his character as Madea.

Here is the Radio Host Rapist who tried to bust into a radio station and rape a lone radio host manning a station all by herself. She quickly escaped into her car and locked her door, but the guy went back up to the station and robbed her purse and belongings. He has a track record of arrests and we are just wondering how do repeat offenders like this get parole. His face gives you the creeps because you can tell he could care less about being arrested. Let’s hope he’ll be going back to the slammer for a long time. What is going on in the world.

Lupe Fiasco recently appeared on the David Letterman show with unsurmountable applause. A self-made Hip Hop star who has quickly climbed the charts with his Laser album reaching number one and as featured as a Hip Hop pic since day one at our sister magazine site at http://www.disilgold.com/ , he is set to cover http://www.xxlmag.com/ this May.  A brief  article intro by Thomas Golioanopoulos is featured. Back in 2009, when Lupe Fiasco was in the middle of recording his third album, at the Record Plant in Los Angeles, his label, Atlantic Records, froze his entire budget. Executives were unhappy with his version of “Nothin’ on You,” a no-brainer No. 1 smash the label had gift wrapped for Lupe, so they requested a meeting with him in New York. The summit took place on a Sunday night at Chin Chins, the Midtown Manhattan Chinese restaurant favored by Mafia wannabes and expense-account-brandishing power brokers.

Atlantic Records Chairman and CEO Craig Kallman and Chairwoman and COO Julie Greenwald joined Lupe, his assistant and a cell phone that was placed in the middle of the table. On speaker was Lupe’s manager and business partner, Charles “Chilly” Patton, who is serving a 44-year prison sentence on drug charges.Lupe set the tone by leaving on his coat. He also didn’t order food. From there, it unraveled. According to Lupe, Kallman took a personal swipe. “We talked to the producers, and they said your verses were wack,” Kallman said, as Lupe remembers it. “Yo, your verses were wack.

”This is the kind of criticism that can shatter a sensitive artist, and the 29-year-old rapper from Chicago says he later contemplated suicide. “It follows you everywhere,” he tells of the depression that overtook him. “The way you rationalize things gets titled through that mentality.” In the song “Beautiful Lasers,” which would finally see the light of day early this year, Lupe mentions keeping a gun on his table. “That was literal.

I own a ton of them.” The album, mostly complete, but without a release date set, languished. Months passed.Things started to turn around for Lupe in late 2010, even as “Nothin’ on You” slipped from his fingers and became the breakout hit for Atlantic rookie B.o.B. An online petition demanding the release of Lupe’s album collected more than 33,000 signatures, and in October, fans organized a rally outside of Atlantic Records’ New York offices. It was dubbed Fiasco Friday. The prospect of thousands of chanting, shouting Lupe loyalists helped convince the label to put more effort into working things out with its artist, and a solid release date was finally set. The album, Lasers, would come out March 8, 2011.This text is in color.
