AreYouObssessed.com Website for new Beyonce’ Movie on April 24th in Theaters Everywhere!

For those of you who understand the importance of opening  day box office sales for movies, one day can make a difference from a hit or flop.  Jennifer Lopez bombed so many times at the Box Office it was a sheer travesty for a singer turned actres and why I am hoping this movie is a hot. That Bey is really working hard for her 80 million. I am sure I was watching a Nintendo commercial and the person playing on the game just like a little girl was Beyonce. Will someone call me and let me know if that was her or am I blind?

Did Beyonce Deliver an Oscar Winning Performance in New Movie: Cadillac Records? Find out from film critic Kam Williams

Cadillac Records

Film Review by Kam Williams

Headline: Fanciful Bio-Pic Revisits Rise of Legendary Record Company

When Lejzor and Fiszel Czyz arrived in the U.S. from Poland in 1928, their parents changed the family surname to “Chess” and started calling their little boys “Leonard” and “Phil.” By the late Forties, the ambitious siblings had already achieved the American Dream, having established themselves in the liquor business while opening up a number of bars in the black community on the South Side of Chicago.

The bulk of the performers booked in their nightclubs were musicians from Mississippi who played the Delta blues. Recognizing the commercial potential of the exploiting the popular genre, the enterprising brothers founded a record company with such promising artists as Muddy Waters, Howlin’ Wolf, Little Walter, Bo Diddley, Sonny Boy Williamson and John Lee Hooker.

Thus, was born Chess Records, an industry giant which would make a mark on the music business for the next quarter of a century. Over that time span, the company would also venture into R&B and jazz, jumpstarting the careers of everyone from Chuck Berry to Etta James to James Moody to Lou Donaldson to Yusef Lateef to Aretha Franklin.

Obviously, distilling the rise and fall of Chess into an entertaining, two-hour melodrama meant that the movie would merely tend to focus on the more sensationalize aspects of its past. Consequently, many of the company’s less colorful and less controversial characters, including some cultural icons, ended up either minimized or ignored entirely, in favor of the development of more salacious storylines.

Written and directed by Darnell Martin, Cadillac Records presents Leonard (Adrien Brody) as the driving force behind Chess, while marginalizing Phil (Shiloh Fernandez) as little more than a historical footnote. This Hollywood version of Leonard is a flamboyant creep who roamed around the South on the Chitlin’ Circuit in a Cadillac convertible in search of gullible black talent so eager to be famous that they were willing to enter into bad contracts.

Apparently, he gave each sucker a key to a flashy Caddy as a signing bonus, but would then subsequently cheat them of earned royalty payments when their songs became hits. Speaking of cheating, Len was unfaithful to his wife (Emmanuelle Chriqui), especially with his heroin-addicted protégé, Etta James (Beyonce’).

Besides that tawdry love triangle, other compelling subplots revolve around hot-headed Little Walter (Columbus Short) who has run-ins with an impersonator, with the police, and with his band mate Muddy Waters’ (Jeffrey Wright) over a woman (Gabrielle Union), before finally meeting his match in a bar fight. Then, there’s Chuck Berry (Mos Def) who, at the height of his fame, draws a stiff prison sentence for sleeping with a minor.

More memorable than these kinky goings-on are the classic tunes not lip-synched but actually sung by the gifted cast. Highlights include Beyonce’s rendition of “At Last,” “Maybelline” by Mos Def, “Hoochie Coochie Man” by Jeffrey Wright, “My Babe” by Columbus Short and “Smokestack Lightnin’” by Eamonn Walker as Howlin’ Wolf. Overall, Cadillac Records provides a nostalgic enough trip down memory lane to overlook the poetic license taken with the facts, if not the glaring omission of Aretha who recorded her very first album with Chess in 1956.

How about a little R-E-S-P-E-C-T?

Excellent (3.5 stars)

Rated R for sexuality, ethnic slurs and pervasive profanity

Running time: 109 minutes

Studio: TriStar Pictures

ASK HEATHER: What fashion lines do you recommend this season? Heather’s Reply: Tina Knowles

ASK HEATHER: What fashion lines do you recommend this season for authors on tour?

Well, this question could not have come at a better time, and since it is fashion week I had to find a line for all women. Glamour, feminine dresses and accessories are back. One fashion line I think is going to do real well is Tina Knowles’ TK line. She is the mother of song artists Solange and Beyonce’, both enjoying fab and fashionable singing careers with style. Meanwhile, Tina Knowles is taking over fashion, and you never saw her arriving.

Of course, Tina Knowles  worked with fine materials on hand to create styles for Destiny’s Child which set the group apart and put girl groups back on the map since TLC with unstoppable force. All of that fine training and perfecting has granted Tina with the power of attorney to be a voice of authority on fashion. This lady knows her fashions and how to make clothes that look good on every woman and no matter what body type. I was simply amazed by the quality of the entire line upon watching the HSN network.

Tina Knowles recently debuted her 1 year anniversary to her same entitled fashion line, and visibly noted with T.M. initials on her jeans, bags and accessories that are right on point this season, simple, elegant, classy and suitable for all figures and sizes. Every top designer is defined with her signature dress and Tina has got it!

With a fashion line available only on the HSN network and her website, Tina introduces a new pant jean that compliments the figure with build in darts that lift  and with straight leg or wide leg styles. What I like is that the waist is high so you don’t have to worry about your bottom scooping out of your jeans.

Tina Knowles introduces the jersey top in an array of colors that can be cinched at the waist with a wide belt or worn as a dress. The difference is the fine detail at the top that accentuates the dome sleeves to give a regal look. The material of her 3 quarter blouses are  thin, free flowing and easy to work with.

Tina Knowles classic item is her TK dress. Built with a hidden zipper, slip, cinch waist and soft gathering on the sleeves along with a flair around the bottom, this dress moves, fits well and the material doesn’t need pressing. You can take this dress anywhere on a trip and it doesn’t wrinkle much. Like Tina Knowles mentions, It’s a forgiving dress for low or high waists and tends to gather comfortably so you feel great all day.

My personal favorite accessory from the TK line is the TK clutch bag. It’s not too big or too small and has a strap so that when you are busy signing books, you can place it over your shoulder. I am simply impressed with all of the clothes from Tina Knowles’ line. VERY SMART, NECESSARY AND TIMELESS for today’s woman.

The items are expected to sell out very quickly. All you have to do to order items is press the SELECT button from yoru remote control. It is tempting to purchase at least one item from each new trend of Tina Knowles’ line, so jot down codes and decide your order. The subtle colors from browns, “The new black” and apple greens to crisp whites and tomato reds are hard to choose from, but adding color to your wardrobe is all the craze this fall so delve in.  I highly recommend the TK line for authors on tour.
